DTHS Embraces the Acquaponics Projects
Acquaponics is a blending of fish farming (Aquaculture) with soil-less production of plants (hydroponics). This integration of fish and plants results in a poly-culture that increases diversity and yield multiple products. Acquaponic is a bio-integrated food production system. This means that the waste products of one biological system serve as nutrients for a second biological system.
It is a United States Agency for International Development (USAID) funded project now being introduced in a number of schools in Jamaica.
