“Will history repeat itself…?”
The Dinthill Technical High School advances to the ISSA/WATA DaCosta Cup Finals, 2019 in dramatic fashion. They will have to face old rivals Clarendon College hoping to redeem supremacy of the 1979 – 80’s era.
A tremendous showdown loomed as the ‘Dinthill D’Cup’ team rose to the occasion to clinch its spot in the finals. They defeated last season’s beaten finalists Cornwall College 2-1 in extreme conditions at the Montego Bay Sports Complex.
Good fortune gifted the Dinthill team another historic final as they struggled in the earlier rounds. They managed to advance to the knock-out stages of the competition after ISSA ruled that the Charlemont team had breached eligibility rules.
They seized the opportunity thus ensuring their consistent stint at the highest level of School Boy football competition.
Notwithstanding, a 31-year drought since their last title this D’Cup team seemed confident that this year would have been a year to remember.
One enigmatic player said, ” This year we want to bring the title to Linstead, and to show that we have what it takes to make our alma mater proud.”
Scores of fans, staff, students, and well-wishers took the long journey to Montego Bay Sports Complex to engage in what was arguably a “big game affair.”
The Facta on Verba brand shown brightly as confidence beamed throughout the stadium as the boys took to the field. Facing their arch-rivals in yet another test of fortitude and might.
Despite going down 3-0 in the end the boys must be proud of themselves for a season filled with drama and tenacity to the end.
Though gracious in defeat, this marks for more developmental planning and execution in the future. We now look towards next season as this has sparked tremendous support and commitment going forward. To Dinthill we say Facta Non Verba ! One Maroon !!!
