DINTHILL TECHNICAL HIGH SCHOOL CELEBRATING 80 YEARS !!!

Dinthill Technical High School Celebrating 80 years !!! (1938-2018)

The dawn of a new era has come as the “Facta Non Verba” brand celebrates it’s 80th Anniversary with dignity and pride. The Dinthill Technical High School is embarking on a mission to foster a greater appreciation for the Technical Vocational assessment areas. With a greater demand for Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Dinthill is poised to fulfill it’s mandate.

Dinthill evolved from the desire to improve the educational opportunities available to the less privileged of the country. Subsequently, Sir Edward Brandis Denham, Captain General, and the Government of Jamaica during the period of 1934 – 1938 were responsible for this remarkable birth.

Therefore, upon Sir Denham’s directives this school began its operations on the Dinthill property which was purchased by the government along with 40 acres known as “Dee Side” from Mr. Wood, which in total amounted to 137 1/2 acres.

We’ve come this far by faith, Dinthill has been blessed with 16 principals to date : 11 appointed and 5 acting instate.

NB# Mrs. Joyce McKenzie acted before being appointed principal while Mr. Dennis M. Clarke and Mr. C. V. Phillips are our longest serving Principals.

  • Mr. John Thompson (1940)
  • Mr. R. C Gayle (1951 – 1960)

DINTHILL TECHNICAL HIGH SCHOOL ALUMNI ASSOCIATION JAMAICA

Greetings To All Dinthillites, Teachers, Students, Friends

On behalf of The Executive, Committees and Members of the Dinthill Technical High School Alumni Association, Jamaica I bring you warm greetings celebrating the  80th Anniversary of the existence of our Alma Mater.

Eighty Years ago in the Year 1938, Dinthill which was selected as one of the three Training Centre in Jamaica, opened its doors as a Practical Training Centre providing Professional Skills Training to young men of ages Fifteen to Seventeen (15-17) primarily in Agriculture and Allied trades.

Situated on over 130 acres of land, the Rio Cobre River flowing through the Property enabling the distribution of potable water to the surrounding communities of Bog Walk and Linstead, Dinthill provided prime agricultural products and reared quality livestock. The school was self-sufficient largely in feeding the student population.

In addition, with the introduction of a Technical High School this fundamental change resulted in positive achievements in the school’s performance rankings as being one of the best Technical High Schools in Jamaica.

Notwithstanding, the numerous outstanding professional men and women that has gone through the walls of this institution is noteworthy.

Especially, relevant to making significant contribution to both the Public and Private sector and in many countries across the globe.

Hence, we are a testimony to the exemplary standards of this noble institution over the eight decades.

Our Alumni Association continues to play a pivotal role in the affairs of the school providing Financial Assistance, guidance and mentorship to students and general support to the programmes and activities of the school.

On this your 80th Anniversary, the Alumni Association, Jamaica proudly say “WELL DONE DINTHILL” a deserving Innings of four score. We thank you Principals and Vice Principals, Teachers and Support Staff, past and present for the remarkable job that you have done in molding us and making us the proud, trained and well-equipped individuals and professionals we are today!
