The goal was set, the stakes high and much anticipation approaching the 48th season of TVJ’s Schools’ Challenge Quiz Competition 2017.
The DTHS School Challenge Quiz team was poised for excellence as the preparation for battle began in early July, aspiring to be champions was not an easy streak.
The team diligently and earnestly sacrificed their lives for a competitive battle. The team consisted of Kevon Walker (captain), Micah Henry, Trina-Gaye Campbell, Demario Hall and Davey-Ann Dixon. Mighty men and women of valour who rose to the occasion to lift the Dinthill banner higher. In addition, further enhancing the brand “Facta Non Verba”. The team was skillfully guided by the expertise of our esteemed past students Mr. Cornel Bent (Head Coach), Mr. Javonne Brown (Technical Coach), Mr. Odain Hudson (Technical Trainer/Advisor) and Ms. Donna Hill (Team Manager).
Ranked as the 21st seeded team our first round encounter deemed challenging was against the 44th seeded team Edwin Allen High of which we triumphed 21- 18 to secure a passage through to the second round. Our next face off was against cooperate area favorites Jamaica College the number 12th ranked team. The energy mounted, the intensity increased to see us triumphant with a 31-26 victory over our most worthy opponents. Advancing to the third round we then went up against the number 5th seeded team Campion College with hopes of securing Quarter Finals. Unfortunately, we were defeated 35-11 in a spirited battle of dignity and pride.
We are extremely delighted that our students went to represent us in this prestigious competition and we are very proud of their accomplishments and development. We anticipate that we will continue to do major exploits in next season’s staging of the competition as we continue to encourage our students to excel.
