School Achievements | “Excel to win…Maintain integrity to last”
“Maintaining excellence through hard work and integrity” was the motto that permeated the atmosphere over the past two years as the Dinthill Technical High School cemented its brand globally. This theme was given full expression and embodiment throughout our activities over the period, and we toiled tirelessly to ensure that the key elements of the theme remained our trademark throughout the year.
It deemed to be one the most successful period of achievements and accreditation’s. This section solidifies the extent to which we must be proud of the ‘Facta Non Verba’ brand. Dinthill remains among the institutions whose students have attained national recognition in the Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examination (CAPE) and Caribbean Secondary Examination Council (CSEC) examinations copping national awards and quality passes in external exams in one sitting.
In 2015, we copped national wards in the following subjects for CAPE examinations:
- Agriculture Unit 2: first, second, and third place;
- Food and Nutrition: third place;
- English Literature: second place.
For CSEC we were especially proud of the following recognition:
- Agriculture – Double Awards: second and third places.
Two of our students were awarded at the national level for their outstanding performance in the number of subjects and quality of passes in one sitting. They are:
- Tijani Fearon – twelve subjects;
- Britney Campbell – nine subjects.
In the 2016 Sitting of CXC Caribbean Secondary Examinations we maintained 100 % pass rate in Agriculture, Biology, Physical Education and Sports, Mechanical Technology and Engineering drawing and in CAPE Computer Science Environmental Science Unit 2.
Fast forward to 2016/2017 the trend continued and more excellence prevailed throughout other areas of academic and extra coda activities. The following summarizes these achievements:
- Dinthill receive an Automated Extend Defibrillator (AED) courtesy of Bickles and the New York Alumni
- The School received Language & Science Text Books courtesy of the PTA body.
- Speech Club won eleven (11) awards at the JCDC competition.
- Music Club gained (5) medals in JCDC music competition.
- Cultural Heart Arts Sport and Education (C.H.A.S.E) Fund donated musical items to the Dinthill Music Programme.
- Eleven (11) of our students got national awards on the CSEC/CAPE 2016 sitting.
- Dinthill got Jamaica Top Technical and Vocational Students Award for outstanding academic performance where Julene Gonzalez attained passes with nine ones with distinction at the CSEC examinations.
- Dinthill receive national award for CAPE Food and Nutrition having gained 1st, 2nd and 3rd Places overall in the Island.
- Dinthill also received 1st place in Clothing and Textile in Jamaica.
- Football, Track & Field, Quiz and other notable entities were also successful achievers over the period.
